Who We Are

The Voyagers Jewelry Design was founded in 1973, owner Becky Taggart Redmond and her team of artisans have over 100 years combined experience. Specializing in custom jewelry creation and repair, done by in house goldsmiths. We also showcase a large selection of one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, ready to wear.
You will frequently see magnifying loops and smudged faces on our team a we are a working studio.

Reuse, Recycle, Repair, Remount and Redesign
- Unique and Custom creations are Voyagers specialty -

Unlike most jewelers, we do all work in house and are able to work with existing pieces to make them "new" again. It could be as simple as a good cleaning and polishing to adding stones or reusing a part of the old design to create a new piece. This ability to create brand new innovative designs from scratch, and from your existing pieces, allows Voyagers to be your personal and full service jewelers.  We do free estimates for any design.

When you visit Voyagers Jewelry plan on seeing one or more of the adopted retired racing greyhounds lounging or napping in front of the fireplace,  under a window, or behind a display case.

Becky

Owner
and Dog Mom to Claire, Ruthie & Clifford
Becky has been designing and making jewelry for over 40 years. She originally started creating jewelry in 1973 and has never lost her love for jewelry or her enthusiasm for designing that special piece for you.

The combination of work background in business, fine-art training and the experience of living, working & traveling in other countries has been a major influence in establishing Voyagers Jewelry Design and the on-going changes in designs and creations. Becky and her staff of artists/designers/goldsmiths continue to enjoy designing and making jewelry....the daily goal remains to make a functional art form that enhances each customer's desires & personality.

Becky was a fine art major at the following universities: Illinois Wesleyan University, the University of the Philippines and the University of Minnesota.  Later taking gemology courses at the Gemological Institute of America and jewelry classes  through  the Manufacturing Jewelers & Silversmiths of America group, lapidary classes, as well as an assortment of computer courses for graphic design, photography and  website creation at the UW, and also CadCam, 3D & animation at Gemvison.

She uses her artistic talents designing and working with clients, in addition to working on the jewelry and gemstone appraisals (and the never-ending battle with administrative & clerical tasks). When time allows, she works on digital photography and creating, designing and changing the website.

Todd

Master Goldsmith
Todd has been with Voyagers Jewelry for over 30 years. He started as a jeweler/apprentice and now works daily, both as a designer and as a goldsmith.

Todd's creative and detailed nature, along with his wood working back ground, does magical things with his hand-sculpturing for original wax carvings. He also works on stone setting and jewelry repairs in sterling silver, platinum and karat gold. Todd's talents go beyond his creative wood working with his creative jewelry design. Your ring, pendant, earrings etc. will be a one-of-kind piece which only a “hands-on” goldsmith can create.

Lisann

Designer

Lisann has shared her artistic skills with us for over 28 years.

With a background in graphic arts and a love for jewelry, Lisann is an excellent creative designer. She currently works with us part time, in order to spend more time with her husband, son, and daughter.

Dawn

Designer

Dawn has been with Voyagers Jewelry for over 20  years; with a total of almost 30 years in the jewelry industry.

Dawn does designing and works with the customers, but is now only sharing some of her time with us; spending the rest of her time with her family, including her son and twins

Bob

Goldsmith

Bob started here several years ago as an apprentice. He has an obvious artistic flair, as well as technical background, along with a great eye for design and quickly learned many of the skills needed to create quality jewelry.

Katie

Designer

Katie started here in 2018. She fit right in with her artistic background and works in the studio-store designing and working with client projects.

You may not see these two in the store but they are hard at work behind the scenes.

Tina

Designer

Tina worked & apprenticed at Voyagers Jewelry many years ago after graduating with a degree in Fine Art & Jewelry Art Metals. She has now returned to the Cambridge area after living & working in Duluth, Minnesota; started working again with our team of designers/jewelers on a part time basis over 10 years ago.

Kristin

Gardener

Although we don't see her in the store any more, she does use her artistic skills to keep our garden areas and planters looking fresh and seasonal.

"What an absolutely terrific shopping experience. My husband just purchased a beautiful tourmaline ring
from Voyagers for my birthday.  It is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! On top of that, it was fairly priced,
professionally done with its custom made features, and the customer service was outstanding!
Thank you for doing such a great job and being so nice."

- Lois

Our store and studio is the “Historic Oxen Run Inn”

Located on Main Street in downtown Cambridge. Originally built in 1851, the pre Civil War stone structure was used as the first stop on the oxen run between Madison and Milwaukee. Voyagers rescued the building in 1985 from great disrepair and received the City-County Historic Preservation Award in 1987. The old stone structure was carefully preserved and in 1999 complemented by a new addition.

Inside you will find beautiful oak display cases featuring a large selection of our custom jewelry creations, original wood beam ceilings, a natural stone fireplace, plus local artisan pottery and art works.
