As summer ends and autumn begins
we look upward for falling leaves and the harvest moon.

Sapphire, the birthstone for September,
has long been associated with the sky and

the heavens as a celestial gemstone.
(for a full list of birthstones by month click here)

Traditionally we think blue for sapphire; from the deep blue of the evening sky to the shining mid-blue of a lovely summer's day  However, this magnificent gemstone also comes in many other colors; which are referred to as "Fancy Sapphires" : not only in the transparent greyish-blue of a distant horizon but also in the gloriously colorful play of light in a sunset in yellow, pink, orange and purple.  Fancy sapphires are pure individualism and are just made for lovers of individualistic colored stone jewelry.

Its beauty, its magnificent colors, its transparency, but also its constancy and durability are qualities associated with this gemstone; not the least of these characteristics is Sapphires excellent hardness (9 on the Mohs scale). Indeed their hardness is exceeded only by that of the diamond.

Reuse, Recycle, Repair, Remount and Redesign

- Unique and Custom creations are Voyagers specialty -
unlike most jewelers, we do all work in house and are able to work with existing pieces to  make them "new" again from a good cleaning and polishing  to adding stones or reusing a part of the old design to create a new piece. This ability to create brand new from scratch, innovative designs, to reusing and redesigning existing pieces allows Voyagers to be your personal and full service jewelers.  We do free estimates for any design.

As always, we recommend that you regularly have your jewelry checked & inspected.   We can do that while you wait ... as well as keep your jewelry sparkling & clean.....
After cleaning, we will check for any missing stones;  inspect each stone for tightness; and  look for chips, nicks and breakage.
Prongs, shanks and mountings will be inspected for wear and cracks.
If repairs are needed, we will make suggestions and discuss possible options with you.
