VoyagersJewelry.com Tip of the Month
As gardens turn green, the deep pink's of Bleeding Hearts and the purple of Iris bloom – these summer colors are all found in the birthstone for June, the Alexandrite.
Alexandrite is a rare gemstone found mainly in Russia and named after the Russian tsar Alexander II (1818-1881).The most sensational feature about this stone, however, is its surprising ability to change color. A green or bluish-green in daylight, alexandrite turns a soft shade of red, purplish-red or raspberry red in artificial light. The mysterious color change will only occur on exposure to different light sources, and makes it one of the most valuable gemstones of all, especially in fine qualities
The Alexandrite has good harness and its color-changing characteristics make it a wonderful gemstone to wear with a variety of wardrobes. It is considered a stone of very good omen and is also reputed to aid creativity and inspire the imagination.
